Hi Darling -
Letters from sea
January 1954 - October 1954

About a year ago, my brother Pat sent me this huge packet of letters that my Dad had sent home while he was a Marine and on cruise around the Pacific, Atlantic and the Caribbean oceans. Since I've sat on them for so long and have the time, I'm going to transcribe them onto this web site. Since I haven't talked to my Mom yet about how she might feel about these letters being published on the web, I'm putting a simple password on the files. Maybe once I talk to here it'll be ok to put them out here open to all, but in the mean time, just send me an email and I'll tell you what the password is.
From February 15 through the 24th, the letters detail the daily life of a Marine aboard a Caribbean cruise - the tedium and boredom associated with being a soldier and how desperately he missed his new wife (my mom and dad got married about six months earlier on 9 May 1953) who was to give birth to my oldest brother Pat in May of 1954.
When I read/transcribe more letters, I'll be able to summarize them here without violating (I hope) anyone's wish for privacy.

Enjoy.
