March 15, 1954 Vieques, P.R. My Dearest Wanda, Another day, another buck and one less to wait until I can be with you again - honey you are all I'm living for. Guess I'd better get your last letter answered. O.K. you just stay disgusted with everything but don't get disgusted with me, or I'll have to come home and remind you how much fun it is. Sure wish I could baby. Wanda I'll never quit telling you I love you or quit trying to prove to you I love you. Yes it has been over a month since I saw you last - seems like it's been a year. Looks like I answered about half of your letter last nite, so I'll just have to talk about this dern place. I didn't do a dern thing yesterday. Lay in the sun for a couple of hours and got a couple of pink legs. One of my buddies I had while I was on the Med Cruise dropped by and we had a few beers. He was with this boy that got killed the other day. He was one of our neighbors I didn't know him - but Wiggins did. He lived at 2664 Bougainville - hadn't been married too long. That's rough, but I still believe if your number's up you've had it - regardless what you're doing anywhere you're at. Oh by the way Wanda, don't say anything to Margaret about Wiggins getting orders - I believe the Bn is getting them cancelled - we haven't heard any more. In a way, that was funny. Wiggins is all shook up - he says he's quitting the M.C. He has had it rough - he has 18 months in at Vieques. I just have nine here after we leave. Wanda you know as well as I do I have to go overseae - we know it's coming so there's no use dreading it - we'll always make the best of what time we have together. Honestly I don't think I'll be going for awhile. Wiggins has already started selling his furniture. He is really shook. We had school all day today - more fun - have the same thing tomorrow. Thursday we'll go out to the range and fire Thursday and Friday - don't have to work this weekend. I dread these weekends as they really go by slow. Honey I'd better shut up for now.
